 VIRGINIA MOYE
Ginny is conducting research on the thermal stability that modifications contribute to mitochondrial tRNAs using techniques such as Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis, Ultraviolet Melting, and Differential Scanning Calorimetry. Her research is part of an effort to explore the impact of human mitochondrial tRNA mutations on disease.
Ginny is a sophomore in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences majoring in Biochemistry and Chemistry with a minor in Spanish. She is a Caldwell Fellow, member of CALS Honors, and member of the University Honors Program. She has also received both an Undergraduate Research Award from the Department of Molecular & Structural Biochemistry and acceptance into the Structural and Integrative Biosciences Initiative for the 2006-2007 school year. Aside from academics, she is a volunteer with Urban Ministries, Resources Chair for Service Raleigh 2007, member of the ASB: Health Issues in Guatemala team, and is also a competitive dancesport athlete in both Latin and standard dances. Following graduation, Ginny intends to pursue her MD or MD/PhD.
